Sheep
We have four Wiltshire ewes, Hermione, Ginny, Lily and Lavender, two sets of twins. They are excellent shedders and will not need shearing.
Pigs
Percy, our sow is a mixture of Landrace, Large White and Duroc breeds. She is a 6 week old weaner who will be fully grown in 5-6 months.
Cows
Anyone who owns cows or deer in New Zealand should register with NAIT. NAIT stands for National Animal Identification and Tracing. Cattle and deer are traced using NAIT approved radio frequency identification device (RFID) ear tags. Details of animals are stored in a national database in order to ensure New Zealand is able to respond quickly in the event of a biosecurity event such as disease outbreak. A record is kept of each animals location, movements throughout the animal's life and the contact details of the person in charge of that animal.
The process is free and straight forward don't let it put you off owning these great animals. Of all the animals we run on our property our cows are the easiest to care for once you are set up.

Bees
It is a legal requirement that hives are registered in New Zealand. Please see the National Beekeepers Association link below.
